My commitment

As a parent, I commit to praying faithfully for the spritual growth of my children. I will praise God for the growth I see, and affirm and encourage my kids as I see them living up to their commitments. I will resist the temptation to hold their commitments to God over their heads or nag them when they miss the mark. I will trust the Holy Spirit to be their "reminder" in the commitments that are between them and God.

Mary Odell

My commitment

I'm going to commit to not giving in to the crowd with their language and their actions. I will set an example for all of the non-Christians out there.

Evean Kelley

Clifton

My commitment

Andrea

Sincerely,
Ben

AJ Norman

My commitment

I am commiting to being a joyful, happy, smiling peson in 9th grade. I want to be an example to all, even if I'm not in leadership anymore. I want to learn from God how to see people through His eyes. To be a friend to anyone who needs one. I will be a serving helping person. I will try to get to know God more.

Emily Cashion

My commitment

God, I'm gonna go all in. Full time, everyday. I want to just flip inside out, and let the world see You in me. I need you to make me beautiful in ways that are beyond makeup and hairdos. Fill me, not only with Your love, but also your grace. Help me keep my eyes open to you, so I can act as You want me to. I pray that you'll take my words away sometimes so all I can do to witness is show your grace. Blow me away, and place me in Your plans.

I love you, Jesus,

Hallie Odell

My commitment

God, I am commiting to leading more people to Christ. I know that is a struggle for me because I really don't like talking to other people about my faith. I guess because I think they would judge me. I am willing to get over it for You, God. I know this is probably a little thing, but it's big for me.

Lindsey Walton

My commitment

I want to being in the word every day. The past two weeks, God has really shown me that the Bible is really His love letter to me. God is love and He cannot act outside of love. Everything He does and everything He says is out of love. Keeping that in mind while I read has really made His Word come alive.

Katie Odell

My commitment

My purpose is not finished yet. I commit to tell the gospel to as many people as possible.I don't want to leave this earth until I finish the purpose for which God created me. We live like slaves here, but we're really millionaires. The bank is in Heaven. My treasure lies there. I'm going to put my perspective and time in focusing on the real thing: God and Heaven. Also I want to learn to trust God and serve everywhere God calls me to. I'm not going to do a half-completed job....ever. Amen, amen, AMEN!

Ashely Wilkinson

My commitment

I want to commit myself to You with no distractions. I want to make an influence and impact of You for others, God. Hlep me keep strong and courageous in You and just commit my life to following You! I love You, Lord. I pray that I can fulfill your purpose in my life.

Hannah Moore

My commitment

This year I am committing to reaching out more to people. I will offer service to those in need. this year I'm going to try and stop focusing on my wants and desires and put Your will above it all.

Amanda Nash

My commitment

I will commit to God that I will change my "people pleasing" personality (which is the main reason why I'm uncomfortable sharing my faith because I don't like to offend people), I won't change who I am, but I will realize that more than half of the people in my life are going to hell, so I need to get over my own fears to plant seeds and help them learn the Word.

Leah Sims

My commitment

God, I am committing to doing a quiet time every day and when you call me to do something for you, I will.

Megan Williamson

My commitment

My commitment is that I will stay clost to you and I will amke a good Christian example to the people around me everywhere I go. I will also tell people about you so they will not be lost. I will try my hardest to do all of these things for you.

Mery Yanez

My committment

I, Garrett Haywood, commit to giving my best effort to be as much like Christ as possible in my 9th grade year because high school presents so many new challenges that one specific commitment wouldn't help me through it.

My committment

I will commit to serving God for my 9th grade year and to go and help others through action with Your help, God.

Drew

My committment

Dear God,
Thank you for sowing up this past week in McDonald's, with Arthur, and the mulitplying of the ketchup. I know You are there watching over me. Thought this next year I commit to tell Hayley, Sarah and new friends about you. I love them enough and know they need You. I commit to being humble, selfless and to strive to be mmore like Jesus so that people can know I'm different. My actions should speak as loud as my words and glorify You. Grace Chun

My committment

I commit to God that I will stick with one church instead of two.

Day Two

I went and washed sail boats and hlped kids in music.

When one of the kindergartenrs laid on my lap, I realized that we are the child in God's lap. We need to submist to Him.

Michelle Hammontree

Day Two

Today I helped with VBS again, did surveys and went swimming.

Today as I was surveying people and listening to soem people's stories, I realized that God puts everyone in our path for a reason and I also realized that nobody is insignificant.

Aimee Milam

Day Two

Today we did surveys again for the church here. When we first got on the bus I was soooooo tired, but God gave me the strength to get the job done.

Katie Odell

Day Two

Today I helped with 3-4 year olds and helped with their crafts. We went to FSU and helped wash boats.

A God moment was when we went to clean boats and God blessed us with a heart to clean them all without complaining.

Rachel Strathdee

Day Two

Today I did the VBS games and went to Orange Avenue and did surveys.

A God moment was that we had pancakes for breakfast and they were good.

Ben Hammack

Day Two

I pretty much went around and did surveys again. I just got to see other sides of people. We went swimming and I really enjoyed hanging out with my friends.

Andrea

Day Two

I helped pre-K and went out to Orange Avenue again. We talked and went door-to-door to share/take a "Christ" survey.

My God moment was when we were talking to people there was a lady who intently listened to us and took the survey not as a "thing to do" but as a way to please God.

AJ Norman

Day Two

Today we went around the community ans shared about a church event and shared the gospel.

3 people we talked to were close followers fo Christ and went to church. One person couldn't talk because they were going to church. We were only denied by 3 people out of about 15 or 20.

Evan Kelley

Day Two

I worked in preschool again and cleaned boats.

It was good seeing people appreciate our work.

Clifton

Day Two

VBS! (In chantr form) We are making puzzles today (we are making puzzles today)
We are goint to pint today (we are making puzzles today) Go crafts! Go crafts! Go crafts!

Crafts was great today! Supervising the painting and making sure the kids painted their puzzles and not each other. The kids I got to help were adorable and you could see the joy in their hearts.

Serve Track! We went to a new part of the survey community. The first couple of houses were a little discouraging, but then we spoke to a couple of people living in that area. That reached to my heart because as I thought about it, the people we talked to were searching for God but were also searching for hope! It really reached my heart. We prayed with many right on their porched.

P.S. Woke up for Fit club!

Hannah Moore

Day Two

Today was a little like yesterday. I helped out little kids and went out to help the community. God gave me the strength to keep going on the kind heart to help others.

Emilee Mayer

Day Two

My group washed small sailboats today at the Seminole Reservation.

My God moment today was when a guy came over and asked if we were with a sail boat group and I got to tell him that we were there to show the love that Jesus gave us by washing these boats.

Ben Dewitt

Day two

I painted the kids' puzzles with them. One kid in particular stood out. Most kids refused to take help, but Ethan did take it. He revealed to me how we try to be independent from God, but we should always ask for help like Ethan asked me.

As we were surveying today, most people said that people don't come to church because people in the church are hypocrites. I realized that if there is hypocracy in me then I could push someone away from Jesus by my actions. I realized I should hold myself to a higher standard and be cautious.

Grace Chun

Day two

Today I worked with pre-K arts and crafts, and handed out sports camp flyers.

A woman told me that her son came home and talked about me a lot. It was very encouraging to hear that we have such influence with these kids.

Andrew Crawford

Day two

Today we went around the community and surveyed people. We also helped the kids paint.

God moment: while working the kids I really feld like our efforts would help lead some of them to know Christ.

Christian Barrowclough

Day Two

Today in crafts I helped the kids pain their 3-D models and some kids were chasing us with paint brushes that had paint, which was interesting. Then my in my serve track we finished the street we had started and we finished a whole new street.

Today while we were visiting, we met a nice lady and she was a very caring and nice. One thing that made me happy was that she said that we made her day. It surprised me that just by asking a couple of questions, we could brighten her day.

Mery Yanez

Day two

We did the same thing today that we did yesterday.

My God moment: I was feeling real down today and I prayed that god would make me joyful and happy. I rpayed that I would just be an example. People are watching me and a down spirit tears others down, but a happy spirit lifts them up. That's a verst int he Bible but I don't remember where it's from. As of now, I'm shoving that unhappiness down Satan's throat.

Emily Cashion

Day Two

Today we did the same thing as yesterday. VBS and then went out to Orange Avenue and passed out door hangers. But another thing that we did was go to the pool and go swimming. Another fun thing I did was do Christian's hair and make up on the bus ride home.

God moment: We met a lady who told us that the reason the people in her community don't go to church is just a sign that Jesus is coming back and it made me realize that it is coming soon and I need to get ready for it.

Amy Thwaites

Day two

We helped in arts and crafts. Today we painted their little puzzles. Oh, and just for the record, I ran a mile today with the e-fit club and I'm very proud of myself for running and not collapsing--haha

Today we were on the bus and we were all just hanging out when we saw a reflection on the bus ceiling from Ana's phone and it was a cross. I don't know why, I just thought it was cool...maybe because it shows that God is everywhere you go and I just thought it was pretty amazing.

Lindsey Walton

Day Two

Today the kids at VBS were more excited and outgoing. Also, while I was on the service track doing surveys for the church, the first couple of houses were discouraging. Then we met a lady came out, and we found out she was a Christian and very sweet. She said her community needed deliverance most of all. Amen, right? It got me thinking--we need to get going and start helping these people see the truth! A defintie God moment. This woman had faith. It gave us encouragement and hope.
Ashley Wilkinson

Day Two

Today I cleaned and waxed boats and hleped kids paint their crafts.

My God moment today was when I got to know some kids from Celebration church better and some kindergartners.

Anthony Bennett

Day two

Today I helped with music in VBS and did more surveys, which was awesome. And I finally ahd Dr. Pepper...yay!

We talked to some really nice people and we could tell they loved God.

Kaela Sculthorpe

Day two

Today I worked with little kids in music at VBS. Then our team did surveys on Orange Avenue.

While we were doing surveys we had many opportunities to pray with and for the community. I think the community was touched that people cared enough to take the time to pray for them.

Megan Williamson

Day two

Today I actually went running again, believe it or not!

At VBS we had the same kids come to crafts and so many of the kids remembered us, especially one little girl Julianna. I remembered going to VBS as a kid and idolizing all the "big kid" workers (who were about 14). I saw how much of an example I am to kids littler than me, and it made me check what I was doing.

We also had a more productive day during the service tracks, and we got to pray with this lady Catherine. I also saw that most people don't go to church because they think Christians are hypocrites. Today was great!

Hallie Odell

Day two

Today we continued working at VBS and helped the kids paint their puzzles. Just as much paint ended up on the table, our hands and our clothes as on those puzzles! Then we travelled around doing surveys. Today we were able to meet and talk with a lot of people and most were really receptive. Then we went to a pool and swam.

Today God just showed me how blessed I am to have the home and family I do. At many homes people have been unwilling to answer their doors or leave the house because of lack of trust of others. It made me see how God has belssed me so much with a home I can feel safe and secure in.

Amanda Nash

Day Two

Today I went of a 1 mile run at 6:oo in the morning. Then I helped with stage games and lunch.

My God moment was when we were on the bus talking about dividne appointments and I looked up at the ceiling and saw that the reflection from the sunlight on my cell phone projected the image of a cross on the ceiling and it reminded me that God was with us.

Ana Pereira

Day Two

I surveyed in the Orange Avenue community today. I went door-to-door connecting with people in the community. It was a great experience to get to see the beliefs of other people.

God moment: There was this lady that I talked to who had a kid brother and was interested in sending him to the sports camp. It's amazing because we had been hearing how most "Christians" in church were hypocrites. It was encouraging to find her so open to this opportunity.

Kaileb Hammontree

Day Two

Today was the second day of VBS and service. In VBS I'm with preschoolers and they are VERY energetic! They are a bunch of fun to play with but it gets kinda hard when you're super tired. So, I had to keep telling myself that it's not about me and keep praying for energy and strength and he really didi show up in my head to keep me going for the rest of the day. Then we went back to Orange Avenue (our service place). We met a large variety of people and it once again showed me how privileged I am and how many simple things I take for granted that I don't even realize. I just pray that when I don't get something, I want, I will remember this and realize that I am very fortunate to have what I do. Then we went swimming and it was a bunch of fun.

Leah Sims

Day Two

For VBS I believe I'll be doing the same thing all week, which is picking children to come up on stage to play the game. It's always more enjoyable when my kid wins, but I share the fun every now and then.

When we were out at serve tracks the dude who ran the boat deal was there when we arrived and we asked him if he had prayer requests. When he told us his requests it was cool to see how everyone has them, even if they don't normally prayer.

Garrett Haywood

Day Two

Pancakes for breakfast, then we did VBS and then we washed boats and then went swimming. We also listened to music from the band.

I really felt today during the evening music. There was a song about God coming to our rescue and it really spoke to me about what God has done for me in my life.

Day One

These e-core kids gave me many God moments today! First, seeing my 14-yearold daughter who hates sweat and loves sleep up for "Fit Club" at 6:00 am was a God moment! (And she didn't skip her devotion to do it!)

Then I watch Amanda Nash minister to a little girl who had been treated badly by her friends. She encouraged her and prayed with her and then spoke to the "mean girls" who had been unfriendly--she managed to address the hurt in a kind and encouraging way.

As we did surveys in the heat, I was amazed to see my rather reserved 16-year-old step up to set an example for her younger sister and our group by offering to be the first to speak as we did surveys. (This is not a comfortable thing for her.) As it turned out, she had the most intimidating situation to deal with, but she did not falter. Her boldness encouraged the other girls in the group (and her mom).

Finally, seeing the teachability and openness of these kids is an example and a blessing to me! My prayer is that I would have that same openness, transparency and willingness to be taught by others.

Every parent at home: you can be very proud of your child!

Day One

Today I went to Orange Avenue and handed out bags of info. to people there and took a survey on how we could make the church serve the community better. Also, we did the games for VBS and both of the kids I chose won!

God moment: God gave us safety.

Ben Hammack

Day One

Today I did VBS. I worked in the service for K-5. We chose someone from each grade to go up and play the games. The interaction with the kids was great. I got to know many of them in my grade level for the games.

God moment: Today I worked at Nathan's grandparent's house. They were cool. They were so generous, they even gave me a PBJ. We painted their fence and did yard work. To see how much that meant to them meant a lot to me.

Garrett Haywood

Day One

In crafts today I met this kid named Ethan that just was so happy and funny. He made my day by giving me 2 high fives and a "foot five." I also went on service track and talked to 2 people with surveys. Even though it was only 2, I am glad we went.

God moment: We met Arther Robinson and dis a servey with him. He said we were awesome for coming out and doing this. He challenged us to continue learning the Word and storing it in our hearts. He motivated me by reciting Romans ch. 8 about how nothing separates us from God. With God on our side, who can be against us? He also challenged me to be willing to be used by God and to ask God to use me as a vessel. He really encouraged me to dig deeping into the Bible. It was a divine appointment to meet him there.

Hallie Odell

Day One

Today we went and worked with the kids here during VBS. I worked on stage playing games with the kids. After that we went out into underprivileged homes and tlaked to them. A God moment was seeing some of the people's faces when we told them that we were going to have churches come and do camps in the community because they are so not used to that at all. The people there have no hope for their community and it was good to see that we may have an impact on them.

Amy Thwaites

Day One

For VBS I did stage team, setting up games and interacting with the kidnergarten-aged kids. Then I went to take a survey in a neighborhood.

God moment: I spoke to a full-time nurse at a man's house. The man was disabled and we got to pray over him. The nurse went to church and I think he was a Christian.

Ashley Wilkinson

Day One

Today for adventure week I worked with the crafts. I helped kids make 3-D models of different things like airplanes and cars. Then I went to Orange Avenue and we went to different houses and told them about events that were coming up.

One thing God helped me see was how some people lived at the projects where we did the surveys were living under poor conditions and circumstances that I usually don't have to worry about daily.

Mery Yanez

Day One

Today I worked in VBS and then went to the Wilder family home and helped paint fences there.

God moment: I had a really good moment when I saw how much helping out changed the house and how much helping out changed the house and how all of us working in Tallahassee can change a lot.

Drew

Day One

We went to a neighborhood and did a survey.

God moment: One lady was very spiritual and perceived in what we did and said she would come by the church in Tally. She said she was taking a trip to Orlando, so she said she would stop by FBCO.

Evan Kelley

Day one

1. Today I helped kids make crafts, and painted a fence and picked up leaves.

2. My God moment was when I read revelations in the morning.

Anthony Bennett

Day One

Music for 4 times each. Then I went to a 100-year-old church and weeded.

God moment: When I met some of the kindergartners and taught them what to do.

Michelle Livingston

Day One

I helped with preschool in the morning. In the afternoon I helped cut grass at a 100-year-old church.

God moment: Let God be in control of your life.

Clifton Crane

Day One

Today I worked with music at Adventure week. Then my group did surveys in the community.

God moment: God showed me that He can use anyone to do His work.

Megan Williamson

Day One

Today we worked with 4-year-olds. Then we went to an old church and helped clean their church for their 100th anniversary that is coming up. We cleared out some of the area around it and moved the flammable stuff.

God moment: God gave me the energy to work with 4-year-olds.

Rachel Strathdee

Day One

Today I helped out little 3 and 4 year-olds till around 2:00 pm. Then we went to go help clean up a church for people who were unable to clean it. God helped me to stay awake and focused. He also helped me have a kind heart when little kids were crying and asking for their mothers. God gave me the strength to keep working even when I was tired and ready for a nap.

Emilee Mayer

Day one

I helped out with crafts. The kids that came through were adorable. there was one kid who looked alot like my 4-year-old brother.

God moment: For a God moment, I'd have to say I really enjoyed meeting some of the people we surveyed and seeing how protective they were of their families and how sweet some of them were and how some of them really understood the gospel. I saw what really kept people from church and how they see God.

Andrea Hammontree

Day One!

What did I do? After about 5 hours of sleep, everyone was up again and ready to work at VBS. I worked in the craft area and helped kids assemble puzzles of planes, cars and more. After that we began to pass out flyers for activities sponsored by Celebration and filled out surveys. It was very discouraging, however, because only two people answered their doors and talked with us. However! After our disappointment, we met a mand named Arthur Robinson and he encouraged us, sharing scripture and kind words. That chance encounter with a minister was truly a blessing from God.

Amanda Nash

Day One!

Today I worked in VBS doing music, arts and crafts.

God moment: I got to have a conversation with a lonely 4 year old who break dances.

Andrew Crawford.

Day one

1. Today I helped with crafts and then we surveyed people.

2. God moment: I realized that a lot of people are lost and need Christ. Also we surveyed a lady that was a believer and I was agreeing with what her views were on people who were not believers.

Christian Barrowclough

Goal One

Today I helped with arts and crafts. We helped little kids make little wooden airplanes and helicopters. It was fun getting to know the little kids and their personalities.

Then we went handing out door hangers and the last house we went to was a girl. She has been trying to get her family to go to church and I thought it was cool that she wasn't the grown-up but she was trying to influence her parents and family.

Lindsey Walton

Day one!

Today was the first day of VBS and I got to work in preschool. It was a lot of fun and there as was a God moment during it. There was a little boy crying when we were on the playground. He wanted his mom. I ended up holding and comforting him outside in the burning heat for about 20 minutes. I got really hot and my arms got tired and my shirt became his tissue, but then I realized that it wasn't about me, it was about him being comforted and happy. Then we went on serve tracks and got stories that made me realize how privileged I am.

Leah Sims

Day One

1. Today I helped with music for Adventure Week. It was really fun interacting with the kids, they were all so cute! Sooo much fun.

2. God moment: When we were doing surveys we met some really nice people. We also me an awesome dude named Arthur who was obviously crazy for Christ!

Kaela Sculthorpe

Day One!

What did I do today? I helped with crafts in VBS. We or I mean they were building little puzzles/forms of transportation. Also, I was in group B and we went some area of Orange Avenue. A lot of girls and I helped in the kitchen passing spaghetti cutting bread and washing dishes.

My God moment: There was a disabled guy and a bunch of other guys we met on our service walk and talk thingy. They really encouraged us since they were so joyful. We prayed for them and it was fun.

Emily Cashion

Day One!

VBS!!! Working in crafts was so exciting! Getting to know the kids I helped was a blast. They were super cute. It showed me how the kids were all going through different things, but God loves each and every one of them.

SERVE TRACK! Joshua 1:9 I was excited, anticpating and a little nervous for my first door to door outreach. God sowed me how to be strong and courageous. Also, it was comforting because a man who answered the door was so open and talkative! Many people spoke honestly and freely when we asked the survey questions. I was the door knocker and prayed for the conversation and hearts of each person we talked to. Thank you, God, for an incredible first day of my first mission trip serving You!

Hannah Moore

Day One

For Adventure Week (VBS) I helped with the games on stage and also helped distribute lunch. For my serve track we went door-to-door doing surveys.

A God moment for me was when we went to a house where the girls told us she was trying to to get here family to get her family back into church. It really hit me that even though I've only faced non-christians at school, some people have to deal with that at home. It made me realize how blessed I am to have a Christian family

Divine Appointment @ McDonalds

Our evening started out great, we got directions and were heading to McDonalds, then I made a wrong turn and we had to turn around, we finally found the McDonalds only to realize it was in the local WalMart. We then found the next McDonalds and headed to it by turning around again. We get to McDonalds and I have to go speak to the manager about our group as they were not expecting a large group. Once the group started going through the lines, I notice Jen Clum speaking with an older gentleman who was leaving the store. He was asking about someone who used to go to our church after Jen mentioned that we were with FBC Oviedo. She turned and pointed to me as someone who might know the person. I knew the person, however I cannot remember the name off hand. I spent a little time speaking with him and mentioned why we were her. He then told me that he was going to be going to Celebration Baptist, which is where we are serving, however he had transportation issues in the morning and missed the service. We shook hands and he left. About 10 minutes later, I noticed he was coming back in the door and he came right up to me and said he was so impressed that our 8th grade students were here serving this community that he wanted to pay for our meal at McDonalds. I put him together with Nathan & Chad and he proceeded to explain to Nathan that he was not from Tallahassee, however he was here for business and was going to be going to church in the morning and since we were there doing what we were doing, he felt lead by the Lord to do something special for our students. Had we done what we were originally going to do and eat earlier in the evening, had we not made a wrong turn and then gone to the wrong McDonalds, we would have been at that store much earlier and maybe have run this gentleman and his wife off before they had the chance to get their food and eat, we never would have been a witness to him. That my friends, is God and his timing and he put us there at the right time to meet and speak with this very nice gentleman. Praise God for the blessings he has already provided us on this trip.
